My Story

Hello! My name is Emily Denton, and I am fat. I have struggled with my weight since I was in the 3rd grade. I am now 21 years old and am weighing in at almost (not quite) 200 lbs. Wow, that was hard to type.
I was a little chubby in elementary school. I was short and pre-pubescent. I loathed gym class because of a chronic case of tendonitis in my right heel. After school I would eat dinner, watch my favorite shows on Nickelodeon, and stuff my face with mint chocolate chip ice cream...the green kind of course.
In middle school I was a frigging chunk! I was hideous too. I had boy-short hair and ugly glasses. I was too young for makeup so I didn't have much help in the complexion department either. I was ridiculed. One time, some witch made up random AOL/AIM screen names and would constantly harass me through instant messages saying how I was a fat-a** and needed to join Jenny Craig.
I was on Color Guard during my first two years of high school. I wasn't skinny but I wasn't fat. I had quite a bit of muscle in my arms and legs due to drop spins and jazz runs. I was happy! After Color Guard, the weight piled on. At the beginning of my senior year I weighed a hefty 164. I joined weight watchers after Christmas break and slimmed down to a nice 139. I kept the weight off for almost a year.
Today, I have once again decided to do something about my weight. My blood pressure is almost at stroke-level most days, and I recently had to start taking blood pressure medicine. Although my blood pressure issue isn't solely due to my obesity, losing weight will definitely help. I also want to feel good about myself and be the confident person I temporarily was before. I decided to start this blog as a tool...something to record my journey so I can reflect and stay motivated.
